R1Soft to Showcase Low Cost, Next-Generation Data Backup Technology at Government Technology Conference

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) January 14, 2009 -- In the midst of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com), the developer of Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) technology for Microsoft®, Windows® and Linux, will showcase its low cost, high-performance server backup software for state and local government at this year's Government Technology Conference (GTC) Southwest, to be held next week in Austin, Texas.

R1Soft is the leading provider of data protection to web hosting and data centers with over 100,000 mission-critical Windows and Linux servers running R1Soft CDP. R1Soft's next-generation backup technology was developed to replicate and synchronize Windows and Linux servers on a near-continuous basis, all while significantly reducing the performance impact of backup operations on busy servers. Now R1Soft is available directly to state and local government.

"We're one of the few software companies that actually saw sales increase in the fourth quarter of 2008, and it's no surprise. As organizations everywhere are required to do more with less we have found customers are purchasing R1Soft to save money on their backup software maintenance expenses," said David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft Division, BBS Technologies. "Our customers are using R1Soft CDP to replicate and synchronize recovery points every 15 minutes from their Windows and Linux servers to disk. They then use their existing tape backup software to archive files into tape. This means instead of putting licenses of Veritas or Symantec backup software on every server, they only need enough Veritas or CA software to archive data from R1Soft CDP to tape. It can be a substantial cost savings."

R1Soft will showcase its technology at booth #720 at the GTC 2009 exhibit hall. The R1Soft booth will feature its popular prize wheel, giving conference attendees the chance to win penguins, T-shirts and cash prizes.
